Unhappy Watching the weather channel, painfull

I can't imagine going to bed and wakeing up to the devestation the mid-west and south have seen the past week. In NewEngland snow thurs. and rain today, 50's by next week end. Were very fortunate.

After I shake this cold I'm donating blood @ the RedCross and out of my 39' restoration budget for the next few month's will donate to help those in need.

39Portlander,
You are a wonderful human being, bless you! We live in the western part of West Virginia near the Ohio River. We watched the front approach us last night as it played out on TV. Thankfully all we got was some straight line wind and a few minutes of hard rain. The hills of West Virginia are a pain at times but we could see the storm breaking up once it hit the hilly country. Our neighbor, Kentucky took a beating and our hearts go out to those people that lost so much.

SHADETREE ................
Sure glad that you did not get hit by that nasty storm.
The West Virginia hills seem to ALWAYS break up those tornados. I don't believe West Virginia has had many tornados at all.
The town of Tornado, WV is supposed to be named for having a tornado hit, many years ago. A lot of people do not believe it actually was a tornado.

I was in and around Lexington Kentucky all last week. We had some similar storms come through earlier in the week with tornado watch/warnings. Friday afternoon I was on a very old farm near Georgetown, Kentucky, located just a little NW of Lexington, when those storms came through. I was not sure just where to go as these storms approached. I was very near a large 1700's stone farm house and had thoughts of going under the crawl space (no basement) of that old house or maybe head for an old stone ice house that was ~ 20' in diameter and 20-25' deep. There was no good way to get in or out of that old structure unless I had an extension ladder
which I didn't. So I just got into an F150 pu and hoped for the best. We had lots of heavy rain, hail, high winds, but luckily no twisters came. The small town of West Liberty was hit hard. Also the area of Kentucky that boarders Indiana had some damage. I was happy when the storms were gone and to be heading back home Saturday morning
