Re: Gray check wool
Hello, I have seen in other posts Classique for upholstery recommended. The loss of Lebaron Bonney was a blow to the hobby.

Re: Gray check wool
I bought some yardage from Mike at Classtique to supplement a kit I bought from LeBaron Bonney in Grey-Blue hairline. I have an early 1930. He bought some remaining yardage that came from LeBaron Bonney. 651-484-9022

Here is a picture of grey check from my 7/1930 Std. coupe. It has the original upholstery.

Re: Gray check wool
Thanks guys. All good information and exactly what I was looking for. I spoke with Macs ( Cartouche) and they said discontinued. Mike at Classtique said he hasn't been able to get any for 7 months now.

Re: Gray check wool
Mike, I was afraid that is what you were going to find. I actually have two cars that I need it for that I am going to convert one to mohair and I have no idea what to do for the other. Mine has been at least 6 months also.

Re: Gray check wool
I live in the heart of what used to be the American textile industry. Most of the mills are gone now but there are a few left. Maybe I should reach out to them and see about making some of these? I know they CAN, but will they be interested?

Re: Gray check wool
I restored a car for the president of Valdese Weavers. He & I discussed this several years ago. They would be interested in doing smaller runs however the costs would rival what their regular 1,000 yard minimum run would be. At $50 a yard, that is a lot of upfront capitol, ...and then you would be buying surplus yardage for 99 cars. FWIW, I would probably buy 100 yards, and you might talk Mike into buying 100 yards, but even then both of us are going to be setting on that material for awhile. Then, it begs the question of what are you going to do with 790 remaining yards??
