Default 28-29 models with 30-31 headlights

My '29 Tudor had 30-31 headlights when my Dad bought it in the late 1960s. I think it's an October build, so should have had the 'bullet' style lights. I've heard the headlights had the same 'peeling nickel' issue that the radiator shells had, so I assume a previous owner swapped out the originals for stainless steel lights from 30-31. So, how many other folk bought 28-29 models that somehow came with 30-31 headlights?

Thanks

Ive converted many times, because the 30-31s are easy to find and the earlier ones, not so much.

same with the wheels............

To be correct, the vehicle should should have the 28-29 style acorn headlamps. The later 29 models were chrome plated instead of nickel. When we acquired my '29 roadster in 1965, it also had the 30-31 style headlamps. The previous owner told my father that the original headlamps were badly rusted so he replaced them with the 30-31 type because they would not rust. I believe that this was a common practice back then.

My '31 had the correct headlights, but for whatever reason had a 28-29 headlight bar. I did get that corrected.

I'm thinking of putting a set on my 29. I went to a show recently and saw one "decent" set for which the guy wanted the measly sum of $500. Needless to say but I didn't take him up on his most generous offer. However, they were the only 28/29s at the show. Mine aren't so rusty, but the flaking chrome bothers me.

Stainless headlights (complete) USED to be available in a more vibrant US Economy.

Currently Snyders shows all stainless repops as "TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE."
