Torque Tube Grease Seal Direction for Install
Hi All,
I need to install a new grease seal in the torque tube and I am not sure which side of the seal faces downward when installing. The old seal that was removed was in bad shape and I could not determine what side faces down. Please let me know from my two pictures which side faces down during the installation. Picture 1 or 2. Thank you Denny |

Re: Torque Tube Grease Seal Direction for Install
The metal side of the grease seal seen in photo 1 faces the front of the car. The side you see in photo 2 faces the rear of the car.
The purpose of the torque tube grease seal is to prevent grease pumped into the U-joint housing into the drive shaft roller bearing from traveling down the drive shaft and into the differential.
