What is an acceptable temp for the rear breaks to be?
Been doing some adjusting a lot on the breaks. When i come to a compete stop after normal driving and breaking my rears are approx 120-125 and my front are around 90 degrees. exactly what i want is to have my rears grab first, I want to get my rears a bit tighter on the stopping and want to tighten a notch or 2 on the wedge and wonder what is a comfortable temp that won't cause any harm or burning...when the car is stopped....175???180??, 190???

Not to be a wise azz but back in the "day" they didn't have temp guns and adjusted so the rears came on first and/or it stopped. Me thinks you worry too much.

Re: What is an acceptable temp for the rear breaks to be?
I just checked my temperature and found it went up three degrees after reading this question. Wonder how these old Fords made it for so long without the "progress" of technology. Just adust your brakes, drive around, then hold your hand on each drum; this is the way it was done before battery-powered gizmos took away our brain.
