Default 35/36 Ford Battery Size

What battery product is being used in your 35 and 36 Ford vehicles if you are
not using an Optima product? I ask because I'm not aware of any battery that
is short enough in height so the posts don't protrude above the floor. As I'm
not having any luck buying a new 6 volt Optima I'm wondering what other
option I may have for my 35 and 36 cars?

I am using an Optima in my 36. I fabricated a gizmo that drops the Optima down below the regular battery holder so the top of the Optima is at the correct height! Works just fine. Larry Cossar in New Hampshire did some raised battery covers that does about the same thing.

I have used an early group 19L Volkswagon battery before switching to an Optima. NAPA shows it replaced by a #7217L (7.5" tall) which is available from their Delaware and Washington DC distribution centers.
