Early V/8 Judging Standard
I'm asking this for a friend, is there a Judging Standers book/books,
similar to the one the Model A's have? Thanks, Dudley |

Re: Early V/8 Judging Standard
No, now that being said; there is a section in the EFV8CA membership roster called Judging Manual and the next section called Judging Instructions. You cab also go to the EFV8CA website and on the left hand margin under National Club Information there is an option Forms. The forms used by the judges on the concourse are there. Hope this is of assistance to you. LouB.

There is one for 1932 Ford:
"1932 Ford Judging & Restoration Standards" It is in MAC's Catalog and at the EFV8 website: https://www.earlyfordv8.org/store-pr...fm?id=12&pid=2 TM. |

In addition to this there is the recently released book "The 1932 Ford Book" from the Early Ford V8 Club. It is about 1 inch thick and an excellent book. I would assume that this book replaces the "1932 Ford Judging and Restoration Standards" but nothing has been said to that effect. The last I checked if you buy "The 1932 Ford Book" from the club you get "1932 Ford Judging and Restoration Standards" free. I hope Tony was right in assuming you have a 1932 Ford since you didn't tell us. If you have a different year please post what you have. Charlie Stephens |

My friend has Ford parts from 1928-1948, plus some from either side. He's just trying to figure what is what. He's collected for maybe 45-50 years. Thanks, Dudley |

It is good to know the whole story. There are several restoration guidelines available from the Early Ford V8 Club (earlyfordv8.org) but it would be expensive to buy all of them. Borrowing a copy of the Green Bible might be a better approach. Have him post pictures and ask what the parts are for. An alternative would be to get someone from the local Early Ford V8 Club (local chapters are listed on their web site) and have them eyeball what he has. If he is close I would be glad to pay him a visit. Charlie Stephens |

Re: Early V/8 Judging Standard
The "green Bible" or 1928 to 1948 Chassis Parts Catalog is a good reference but it lists "latest type" parts as of 1950 or time of publication. To get "all parts" for individual models, you need the chassis or body part catalogs closest to the year of manufacture for the cars involved. If its for a bulk load of Ford dealership NOS parts identification, you really need all the parts books for all the years in the range to accurately ID all parts.
A good example is parts for the 1951 Mercury like several I own. If you have the 1949 to 1951 chassis parts catalog without the supplements then you may not find all the part number you need. If you have the 49 thru 52 version it will list all parts that are currently available and interchangeble parts but may not list the original part number for certain parts. The 49 thru 53 version spreads it out even more. The overdrive transmission alone went through one major change in design and several smaller ones so you have to be carefull on the part numbers selected to insure correct fitment. |
