Rear brake roller track removal
I have the rivets out of the rear roller track but the service brake tube that holds the bushings for the shafts must be pressed into the backing plate. Any ideas on how to get this tube out of the backing plate?

Hey Fifty, leave the tubes on. The bushings can be pressed in with the everything still together. (Tube and backerplate attached). Jeff

Tap Tap Tap doesn't work. I guess I gotta do the bang bang bang! I'm concerned I'll damage the backing plate. |

Re: Rear brake roller track removal
Try getting a thin wedge between the roller track and the backing plate then Tap Tap Tap on the wedge. Just went through this yesterday. See if you can twist the tube with a pipe wrench.

Re: Rear brake roller track removal
Place the backing plate on a sturdy workbench or other surface with the track hanging over the edge and tap firmly on the e-brake tube with a brass or plastic mallet. It will come loose. Done hundreds of them and never had to press them out. I don't pry them off as I sometimes use the tracks over again after welding them up and resurfacing them.
