I am pretty sure that hole was for vacuum supply for the original power brake setups...

Yes, vacuum for power brakes and the windshield wipers.

Does anyone know what the original fitting looks like? I'm looking for one.

Neither of these is 'original' but they'll give you an idea what they could look like.
The leaky cobbled up one on the left was on the (not original) engine in my 55/57 T-bird. The one on the right is what I got when I called CASCO and asked them for a replacement. It fits all the formed metal tubing that was damaged and I also had to replace. The fitting thread type & size (and tubing) are specific to the equipment on a car. In my case: power brakes & boosted vacuum windshield wipers.
It turns out I got the replacement shaped metal tubing from a different place (Tbird HQ) but they fit together just fine, so the new pieces must be pretty close to 'original'.

Thanks Dmsfrr for the photo. Thanks also for the sources of the parts. I recently swapped in a B manifold and wanted to get the right fitting for it. Right now all I have is plug in that hole and I want to get everything back together right.
