Weak and rotting old burlap pocketing on the seat bottom springs and listings on the back needs to be replaced. This stuff is 85 years old and surely there is a better material to replace it. Something special about Burlap? Thanks: Fred A

Fred, I'd never worried too much about the individual wrappings of the coils. I take special care to be certain each, and every coil is hog ringed to the next coil.
I roll up a small amount of carpet padding and stuff each coil. That will give a new "life" to the finished cushion. Wrapping the entire cushion with burlap prior to laying over the cotton batting and finally, the upholstery is very important. Hog ring that burlap wrap to all four sides. Burlap is very strong and last for decades. I believe that's why it is used.
