I need some help here from guys that might have experience decoding VIN and Data Plate. Here's what I have.
1963 1/2 Ford Galaxie Red , 2dr hardtop , fastback roof line. Car now has a small block , 289 with auto transmission. Engine/trans may have been swapped out years ago, current owner has no knowledge of what occurred before he owned it. Data plate shows VIN number as 3G660213835. Top line reads: 63B J 95 26G 32 4 4 Not sure what the original engine would have been ? I have a text message with a picture of this data plate attached. Thanks for any help. Steve |

If that fifth character in the VIN is G then it had a 406 FE V8 but if it is a C then it was one of the new for mid 63 289 small block engines. This link will give the rest.
http://www.so-calgalaxies.com/1963 Looks like it was rangoon red with a red on red interior. The 63 1/2 fastbacks are quite popular no matter what engine it may have had. A good friend had a 64 fastback with a 289. He took it out and put a 390 in it. |
