Default Throttle cable problems

As you can see from the pics I am trying to connect two Stromberg 81's using a Lokar throttle cable assembly. The problem I am having is getting the throttle to return to the idle position. As you push down on the pedal the carbs open up as they should, but lifting off the pedal they do not return to idle position. As you can see from the picture the cable bends in the upward position not allowing it to fully return. I thought about using the stock Model A throttle assembly but I don't think it will extend over enough to clear the headers. I had a bell crank setup for this manifold but for the life of me can't find it. I know it is in the shop but I have hid it well.

Any ideas how to make this work or another option for the throttle?

Thanks for your replies
