I have a oogha horn I want to use on my A its nots a Sparton its a Klaxon. It does not work at the moment, what are the most common problems to look for to repair these. I have cleaned all the contacts still nothing all I get is a tiny bit of movement. Does it need to be rewound with new copper.

You can use a volt/ohm meter (VOM) to test for shorts and continuity of the field coils and the armature coils. Check any insulating washers for damage that might cause shorts. Hope this helps

Make sure you've used the adjustment screw in every possible position. One of mine was just "burping" until I hit just the right spot on the adjusting position. This particular horn is very sensitive to the point of being one click off produces just a grunt. I know I need to get "into it" but rewiring it I don't think is my problem, and maybe not yours either. Have you tried to manually spin it when it starts to move? Sometimes that will get it going temporarly. Don't forget to LIGHTLY oil it. Good luck!
