Remove ignition key

For some time I have not been able to remove the key from the ignition in my 1939 PU. When I got the PU it had a replacement lock cylinder from Argentina. I got the correct lock cylinder and installed that and that was the beginning of my problem. The other day I removed the shear bolt from the column drop, spread the clamp opening, and removed the bolts that held the column crop to the dash and slide the column drop down the column. I loosened the column clamp at the steering box and made sure that the opening in the column for the wheel lock was properly aligned. I then bolted the column drop to the dash and allowed the clamp portion of the column drop to come to rest on the column with out any undue pressure. At this point I could remove the key from the ignition. When I tightened the shear bolt, I could not remove the key. After this lengthy description, I now come to the problem. Why does tightening the shear bolt effect removal of the key? I cannot discern any relationship between the shear bolt tightening the clamp and the lock cylinder. At present I have the shear bolt in finger tight and I can remove the key. Tighten any more and the key will not come out. Thanks in advance for your answers.

Try getting some powdered graphite and putting it in the tumbler around the key. Try and get as much as you can in. Then giggle the key lightly, it may just be the lock has gotten gummed up from age. If it's an original lock cyl. Even if it isn't try this.
