I'm brand new here, so have mercy! Does anyone know of another way to replace the fuel tank on a '37 Ford Tudor, other than lifting the body off the frame?

You don't have to lift the body off of the frame to remove a 1937 Ford fuel tank. Put the car on jack stands; I removed the rear wheels to give me room to remove some items. OK-- remove the left rear fender brace to gain access to the fuel filler neck; disconnect the tail pipe bracket and move the tail pipe over; remove the fuel sender wire; remove the fuel line bracket from the top of the rear cross member; remove the fuel line from the fuel tank; remove the fuel filler neck from the fuel tank; remove the three bolts holding the fuel tank to the frame; for early type fuel filler neck push the fuel tank up and over to the right while forcing the left side downward. I would think that if you have the later fuel filler neck, then push the left side up and pull the right side down. You should be able to muscle the fuel tank out of the frame rails. Good luck. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showth...move+fuel+tank |
