king pin/spindle interference

Guys
I have attached 5 photos showing the top of the king pins in relation to the brake adjusting nut.
On the passenger side the clearence is about a 1/4 ".
On the driver side I barely have room to get dental floss through.
2 pictures are close ups and 2 are the overview of each side. This for the experts to look for other things wrong that might be causing this.
I have touched / replaced almost everything in the front end, including the king pins, with all the pieces, although 25 years ago when the internet was not available.
i did not serach the threads because I assumed this never came up before, since in all my readings, I never saw it.

Bearing under king pin is wrong. Too thick.

I would "think" that if it at least had some clearance, it wouldn't be a "BIG DEAL" or cause any "ill" effect.???

The bolt is through the king pin in the only location it can go. .
That puts the top of the spindle / king pin in a set location.
That what has me puzzled.
Is it something in the wheel hub?
I don't believe the bushing would set the top higher.

I'm not having any trouble, but it caught my eye while greasing. Will clean the grease off everything when the weather warms up.

Clean and look is a good plan. Looking I see what looks like two different bearings. But without being clean can't see how the parts fit in relation to each other.

Maybe the aftermarket king pins are slightly larger on the top castings

The part on the backing plate where the brake adjuster goes through looks bent down in picture #2. The other side looks OK. JMO.

I don't know why Dudley's reply was pulled but I believe he was correct. I think if you measure the distance from the square adjuster to the top of the kingpin they will be nearly equal. The adjuster housings are different (early vs. late).

Tom, slightly off topic but I would be careful with those oddball shocks. A friend recently had a scare when a brake rod got hung up on a non-stock shock. He had been driving trouble free for several years beforehand.

Square adjusting nut to top of king pins differ by a fat 1/4" from pass side to driver side.
I'm starting to think the housings are different since the king pins are in a set position........I think

I looked back at the overall photos and see why Dudley removed his post. What we both thought we saw in the close ups was not the case.

I see an air gap on top of the axle on the right side. A thinner bearing (or worn bearing) would let the axle and kingpin drop down some.

At the time I deleted my post, I also noted, which looks like, a space
between the axle and the spindle......on the bottom side.
