We are installing door hardware in our '30 4 dr restoration. But the latch on the passenger side front door is missing. Suggestions where to find one would be appreciated.

I would call Berts. My Dad may have one also, but he is still on the mend from his surgery and it would be late this week before I could dig for one. Rod

On the door latch on ebay, can the worn part be filled in and repaired? Mine is worn in the same area and the door rattles because it doesn't close tight.
![]() Sorry for the hi-jacking the thread with my question, but Skibb may want to know the answer also if he buys that latch. Skibb, here's the link to the latch; http://www.ebay.com/itm/Model-A-Ford...7db453&vxp=mtr Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 11-30-2014 at 03:04 PM. |

Looks repairable to me. Fill it with weld, grind it square and radius with a file (almost a forgotten art to do it right in the modern world). Rod

Update, three of us gave the assembly a good look last night and decided to replace the whole assembly (window regulator and lock) if we could find it. This is for the left front passenger door. Thank you for your responses.

Attachment 204275
Attachment 204276 Attachment 204277 Attachment 204278 Would this be the latch you are looking for? Which 4 door do you have, Murray or Briggs? I have heard that the latches may be different. Regards whirlinwilly [email protected] Last edited by whirlinwilly; 01-16-2015 at 12:45 PM. |

[QUOTE=Y-Blockhead;989787]On the door latch on ebay, can the worn part be filled in and repaired? Mine is worn in the same area and the door rattles because it doesn't close tight.
I Just rebuilt (reconstructed) a pair of front door latches for a 31 Slant window Fordor. These were the most worn out latches I have ever seen. As stated before, you will have to take them all apart, weld up all the worn out parts and reshape everything. Good tight door latches really help with getting the doors to close tight and latch properly. I have rebuilt the latches on four of the early Fords I have and need to fix the latches on the Vicky I just purchased. As long as all the parts are there, they can be fixed. My experience. Chris W.
