This is a pic of the emblem I remove from the shell on my 30 coupe. It might be the original, who knows, but if it is I wondered on a harmless way to refurb it rathe than shell out for a new one?
I have seen the threads about Oxalic Acid - Wood Bleach - to boil out blocks etc and other rusty parts, but not sure this is actually rust. Any expertise or suggestions - Thanks! |

Thanks - I dug back in all the threads about her, and while I imagine the result will be nice, I'm not interested in a $350 emblem. I was hoping to hear perhaps some homebrew or method to just brighten it up. Shame to not use a original if possible. Appreciate the answer tho ...

There are much better shape original FORD Emblems out there for under $60.00 ... I have a very nice one for backup i paid $35.00 .[which i will have restored by Karla soon].. The silver color which your emblem is lacking should be UNFINISHED chrome plating. That part is beyond help unless you have a steady hand and try the CHROME Plate look out of a can???? As far as the blue enamel you can polish it out better using a glass polishing cleaner. On the back of emblem might say: THE D.LAULD CO.COLUMBUS.O.

Thanks for that tip - a bright light does show on the left a DL and on the right faintly ULD CO, good to know.
I'll bag it then for another day and find a better shape one. |

If that doesn't work then replate it with the Caswell "copy cad" home plating kit and lightly polish it with SemiChrome. I did that to one and it looks good. |
