Default Fan Shroud

Does anyone know if the 1939 half ton pickup had a radiator shroud and or engine pans? If they did, then I'll need to advertise for a wanted set. Thanks Guys.

Hi JRHASZARD, good to see you here. Make sure you check out the Swap Meet section. I was looking there and saw a guy that's a pickup dude and sells a lot of stuff. Don't know who he is, or anything else. Just wanted to let you know about the cool swap meet going on 24/7. Good luck finding parts if it turns out you need them.

Hi, Yes to both questions. However, the fan shroud does assist greatly in directing the air flow with a positive result for cooling the engine. The engine pans were much less successful in providing any direct benefit to cooling the engine. Most of them are missing from these vehicles because they were removed by the first mechanic that had to do any serious work on the engine. They were seen as more of a hindrance than a help and would often hold sludge and debris in the engine bay causing more trouble than they were worth. To be "correct" you should have them, but to be practical I wouldn't bother. But if I haven't convinced you, I do have a set of these rare items that I can sell to you. PM me if you are interested. Best Wishes, Toby

The shrowd along with an industrial 6 bladed fan along with Skips pumps provides MAXIMUM cooling. My 39 P/U ran at a fast idle on a day over 100 degrees for over 2 hours and never got over 180. Came down to 175 when the engine was raced slightly. This was at the Ford national show flea market in Maryland in 2005. G.M.
