Default Rear wheel grease seals

Which side of the rear wheel grease seal sits on the bearing?

As a general rule, you have the lip of the seal, pointing toward the oil, or grease, you are trying to contain.

Also make sure you only tap the seal in just enough to install the snap ring. If it goes in too far you will have to destroy it to get it back out.

Depending where you bought them you may have a very difficult time installing them. Most are too large in diameter. You may have to somehow machine or sand the outer diameter down. A&L is the only supplier I know of who sell seals that will fit properly.

Ive never had a problem installing the ones from Snyders or Macs. People say your not supposed to but i like to use a big socket and tap them in, I have a better feel for installing them that way rather than a press.

Berts seals fit fine, or atleast the 2 sets I installed. I have some Nors Chicago Rawhide seals set back for use on mine and Dad's cars. Likely to have some extras when I am all done sorting through this stuff. Seals and bearings will likely be near last of the stuff to sort. Rod
