I'm kicking the tires on a '30 Tudor that I will probably buy. The car is currently black with "fire engine wheels" which I will definitely change for a more subdued color. I'm considering Tacoma Cream or Black. I'm currently leaning towards black, and the bald tires need to be changed out as well. I'm also leaning toward blackwall tires instead of the whitewalls currently on the car. There is no stripe on the beltline, so this will make the entire car black-----which I personally like. The car just had brand new L/B grey interior installed. The love of my life wants the Tacoma Cream with a matching stripe to be added to the beltline. I'm leaning toward all black, but if you guys side with her, I'll probably be sleeping with the dog if I overrule the bride. Thanks for your opinions--------I know you have some!

Jack,
You asked for opinions, so, I had a BLACK '30 Coupe, (my favorite color) with RED wheels, (my least favorite color) & Firestone blackwalls. After awhile, the red kinda' "grew on me. With the addition of the factory correct RED pinstriping, the car looked PRIMO! It really commanded lots of attention & no one in our chapter had the same color scheme! Everybody & their dogs have Tacoma Cream or Straw, as some call it. Bill W. P.M. me your E-Mail address & I'll send multiple pics of Minerva. Speaking of Dogs, The Rat Terrier is beggin' to go to BED!

My Fordor is black, with orange wheels and orange pin strip on hood and around the body. So I am soing to side with your wife.
Ron/IA PS. However, I do like black wheels, and I definitely like black tires (cannot stand whitewalls on a Model A).

I'll go with a compromise: Black wheels, black sidewalls, and a gray pinstripe to pick up the interior colors. Or a deep red pinstripe. Or here favorite color pinstripe.

Her side what she wants and your side how you like, that wasn't hard.

My black Town Sedan has cream wheels, but not sure if the color is the same as you are thinking about. Mine has whitewalls, which I am not crazy about, but they are in excellent condition, so I don't plan on changing them any time soon. You can see what mine looks like. As for picking the color, this should be an easy decision - do what she likes.

What was it that Henry said? "You can have it any color you want as long as it's Black!"
Mine isn't exactly black, actually Stone Grey. I think the Tacoma wheels set it off nicely. |

I also like the Black with Gray pin stripe. I have a 30 Tudor Black Body on Black Wheels / Tires. For years I was thinking about painting the wheels and adding a matching color pin stripe. But I had so many older people come up to me at Model A events and tell me that my car looked the most authentic to what they remembered. Remember most Model A's in the 30's thru the 60's did not have colors other then Black put on the wheels. Years ago I finally did have my wheels repainted a gloss Black again and I then decided to add a Gray pinstripe to the car. This pinstrip makes it looks like the sun is causing a reflection off of the car and certainly adds to the eye appeal more then I thought possible. As this in not a high point car and just a touring car, I used a small bottle of Testors' Model Car Battleship Gray paint that I thinned down some to do the pin striping. As a aid to do the striping I used a vinyl stick-on 3 stripe pin stripe tape that is sold at most auto parts store to be the paint line masking. I laid the 3 stripe tape down on the center of the revels and then removed the center stripe tape. I brush painted the Gray model paint on in this gap and then removed the other remaining pin stripe tape. This left a nice thin pin stripe that has held up for years and looks to be professional to the untrained eye. |

Simple solution. Have two Model A's.
One with black tires & black wheels; the other, black tires & Tacoma Cream wheels. Both look good and both you and spouse are happy. ![]() I would guess the reason that "Everybody & their dogs have Tacoma Cream",.............. is that "everybody" likes it. Do you have a dog? ![]()
