Default Rebuilt my first Zenith carb yesterday.

I've been working on cars for 31 years at the dealership level. Rebuilt many carbs and work with some really sophisticated technology.

I have to admit that I was a little intimidated by this carb. Once it was apart and the magic was let out of the box it was a breeze.

The only real problem the carb had was the gav seat was backed out of it's threads. I guess it got loose and turned out when the knob was being turned.
The float valve was probably bad too as it leaked fuel when parked.

I replaced everything inside.

During the test drive it started back firing and stalling. Finally got it back to the house thinking I may have let the fuel line sink too far into the carb. Checked it and it was perfect. Pulled the line inside off and it was not blocked. I stuck a pick into the gas shut off valve and was able to pull out a piece of seal packing that was blocking the line. Once this was corrected it ran perfectly.

While I had the carb apart on the bench, Pat (Duffy1) came by for a visit. We talked quite a while. He seemed pretty impressed with the originality of the car. It was good to meet him and we hit it off well. Can't wait to get by and see his car.
