do they still make hydraulic tube shocks without the gas

I'm going to say yes. Get friendly with one of the "older" counter guys at NAPA or it's equivalent in your area. Speedway comes to mind as does So-Cal. Sometimes hot rodders can become your friend.

napa is checking for me, mine are gas,stiff ride,napa says there number with a plus means gas
