Have to replace a door panel in my car, turns out that it was ordered from La Baron Bonny back in the late 80's and early 90's and is NOT made anymore and does not match any of their samples now. They recommended Hirsch auto....has anyone ever used them?
thanks ![]()

Mark, have you checked other local upholstery shops? Any chance you could dye the new material to match the old?

Mark, Bill Hirsch is fine for some things. Have them send you a swatch to view with what you have and see if it is close.

I've been getting Hemming's since 1963 & I've seen Hirsch ad's in the mag. as long as I can remember. I've never seen them advertise uphostery kits, I may be wrong though. They supply restoration supply products & may have a good supply of fabrics. I have purchased eng. paint from them over the yrs. L-B sells the bare cardboard panels already cut to shape, so you can possible locate a fabric close to what you now have & cover the panel. A friend is restoring a 31 Linclon & found a uphol. fabric supplier in Oregon that had 100's of fabrics & were able to match his orig. uphol. very close. I'm in the process of installing a complete interior in an early 29 Briggs leatherback at this time.
This is the 3rd L-B inter kit I've installed. If I ever do another car I would buy the bare panels & cover them myself as I have had to trim every panel to get it to fit properly. I stiil have three door panels left to do & maybe they will fit better then the left rear that I did yesterday. Door panels do have stitching on them that would require a professional unless you have a comm. sewing machine. |

I have no personal experience with this Northern Wisconsin supplier, but seem to recall positive comments on their upholstery work.
In any case, the video tour of their shop is interesting: (no Model A's) http://www.lcars.com/pages/video-details.php?id=4

Try this place - been around for along time, I can tell you they have 100's of old vintage material rolls in their building.
upholsterysupply.com Worth a shot anyway. Good luck |
