Default 1928 Tool Bag and Original Tools??

My October 1, 1928 PPL shows a tire iron, which looks large and is a round shaft with an angled flat spoon on the end, part # A 17019, same as T 2340. My January 1, 1928 PPL doesn't picture nor list this tool. The picture in the PPL makes it look large enough to be a truck tool, but maybe the picture isn't to scale with the tire pump next to it.

Was this part of the original tool kit that came with 1928 cars, and if so what months had it? Thanks

Tom,

My April 1, 1927 PPL shows a picture of tool 2340 as a Tire Iron .

The January 1, 1928 PPL makes reference to the tool(Same as T2340) but does not show a picture.

The same reference is made in the October 1, 1928 PPL but also does not show a picture.

The JS, 17-2 shows a picture of the tool; it is 10" in length and curved up at one end; is the same diameter over its entire length and no screwdriver end. The 2nd generation(July 1928) is made the same except a screwdriver end was added; the 3rd generation(November 1928) was changed to a spoon end and also had the screwdriver end.

Hope this helps, Ron

Yes, that's the tool shown in my October 1, 1928 PPL, but of course it's much too big for the tool bag, and I wonder if it was issued with each car in 1928?

yes tom those are TT or AA tire irons
they are called "tire iron - large" cost 40 cents new
the TT one has the number on it TT 4069
I thought I had one marked with AA but may be mistaken
they seem to just have a mfg mark on them
see pictures

I guess the October 1, 1928 PPL just had the wrong picture in the car tools. I figured it looked like a truck tire tool, but it was pictured in the car section and there is no truck tire tool pictured in the same book.
