The rubber ball that mounts to the wishbone for the front axle ... I spayed it with silicone lub and it slipped right on the metal ball on the wishborn.
In that the rubber ball is from MAC and Made in China and I think I once saw an elaborate KRWilson tool to mount the ball...I am concerned that it went on so easy. Any thoughts...any USA source for the ball Thank you |

Hey Ed , What really counts is that there isn't any slop in this joint when bolted together . Simple way to check this is to watch the joint as you turn the steering back & forth . If you have the SOFT ball with the little bumps it is probably gonna be sloppy & that makes for a less than perfect driving car . No idea on current suppliers of good ones . I personally use good old ones . If you try to use an NOS one it helps to boil it first as they like to split & this softens them up some . I don't have any X-tras of these -sorry .

Ed: I will send you a n.o.s ford script ball and a aftermarket ball made in the 60's. One of these will do the job for you. Fred

Ed, I've found that when I use a spray lube it stays slippery. I have found that if you use contact cleaner it is very slick on rubber but it evaporates very fast and stays tight.
good luck, Cobbie |

A little lube and a shot of compressed air through the little hole in the back of the ball almost makes the ball jump on to the wishbone when assembling.
