I am a former Model T owner. I now have the bug to buy a 1929 Model A 4 door Blind Back sedan Briggs Body Model 60B.
I am 6'6'' and do not fit comfortable driving it. Does anyone know if the front seat can be moved back. If so how would it be down. Also does anyone have pictures of the front seat taken out. Thanks for any help or suggestions. |

I have the exact car you mention, I am 6' 4" so I know what you mean by "not fitting". Yes, the seat CAN be moved back. Remove the screws that fasten it straight down to the floor. There is a metal bracket that fastens the seat back at your shoulder to the door post, that will need to be removed as well. Then you will set the seat where you want it, and fasten the screws down to the floor again. Now fabricate a Z bracket for the seat back to door pillar. I used 2 L brackets from the hardware store and welded them together to make a Z. Use some fabric, hopefully you have some to match the seat upholstery, and cover the Z brackets. I also had trouble with not enough room between the shifter/brake/throttle. Just grab the shifter lever in both hands tightly and bend it to the right. If you are 6' 4" you'll likely have the hand strength to do it without heat, I did.

The car is also missing the windshield wiper motor. It was an electric one. Do you know where I can order one. I need the whole kit.

The electric wper motor sold by the suppliers doesn't fit without modifications I'm told. Best to find an original and restore/repair it as needed. Meantime coat the windshield with RainX. Works good. The Fordor car is great, lots of room, easier in/out. However, lots of wood in the body. Look it over VERY carefully, its a BIG job to replace.

Thank you, Eagle for the seat relocation advice. I have an older restoration 1928 Sport coupe that I will try this on before touching my show-winning 1930 Cabriolet. But it makes sense

The coupe seat move is a much different animal that the Fordor move. I think the seat riser is riveted in. The rear package shelf needs to be modified and there is another piece behind the seat riser that needs to get moved (this part may only be on rumble seat cars). There is an old service bulletin that covers it. It only moves it back an inch or two.

Hi, I have a modified package shelf/tray that came out of a January 1929 Sport coupe that was being street rodded. It has a couple slots cut in it for a roll bar. I have it advertised for $20 (plus shipping) on the Facebook Group "Model A Modified". Look there for a picture of it if interested. It is good enough to practice on at least. I am located in OH.
