Default Acorn Nut Clearance

Can anyone tell me how much clearance there is inside the acorn nuts. I have 2 length studs in my 8BA. The short ones are flush with the top of the nut, but long ones stick above the nut by about 0.25 " Is this too much for acorn nuts to fit over the studs and nuts?

If the stud is taller than the acorn then it will surely bottom out before it tightens up.

Take a bolt, thread it in, then count the threads that go into the nut. The acorn will go down one thread for each revolution so count the threads above the head.

Worst case, get shorter studs or buzz them off with a grinder, clear the threads with a die and your done.

I guess I asked the wrong question. I was thinking about adding the acorn "caps" to the existing ARP nuts. I wasn't aware that actual acorn nuts were also available.
