My understanding of the design of an original pop-out switch is that when it is pushed in (off) it grounds the points out so that the car can not be hot wired.
So if you are asking if you can hot wire around a pop-out switch, I think he answer is "no".

I believe the steel cable is what prevents hot wiring. Get to the wires and you can do it.
