I want to start painting my fenders soon want to use PPG single stage, is their just a "black" if not any suggestions on what black to use?

PPG single-stage "what"?? There are several lines in single stage. Many people here recommend PPG Concept --and so did I however that line is being phased out and replaced by Essential which I am extremely happy with.

With regard to "Black colors", there is likely more shades of Black than there are of Red!! It is all about what you feel is pleasing to the eye. Several years ago we held a Fordbarn workshop at my shop where we compared some Blacks on vehicle bodies. Not everyone agreed on what was the prettiest, ...or the "Blackest".

There was thread a while back and it seems like the most used black was Concept 9300. Like Brent said, there are several blacks available from each paint manufacture. I use 9300 and am satisfied with the color for the fenders, splash aprons, etc.

I would personally NOT recommend that you use DCC (Concept).

Read what I posted above. DCC is being phased out and will likely be unavailable from PPG within the next 6 months. No sense using a product now that will be obsolete by the time the project is potentially completed.

So, how expensive is the Essential paint compared to DCC?

Their web site says that the single-stage pain is actually polyurethane. Is that type of paint applied the same way as acrylic urethane?

Doug, many of the DCC formulas have heavy metals in their make-up which is why PPG is phasing it out due to gov't. regs. We were initially told that it would be gone by the end of the year here in TN. I know a couple of states already have it removed from their line. The technology of DCC is getting old and is just being upgraded ...much like many other lines before it.
