USS Hornet CVS-12 - wooden flight deck aircraft carrier, built in 1943-4
S-6 Division, under Port side rear 5" gun batteries. 1961-1964. Me and my other Navy buddies will start with a complimentary breakfast at Denny's, then on to a complimentary lunch at the Sizzler, and finish up with a complimentary dinner at Applebee's. We are all hunters and rifle shooters, so we will also be celebrating the election results. |

There are still Dennys eateries in California? Seems that they've all disappeared in the upper northeast United States. Miss going out at 3:00 a.m. in the middle of the night for the belly buster Grand Slam breakfast.
Also too . . . . Does anybody but a few of us with living uncles (now passed) who fought in World War One, still call November 11th . . . Armistice Day?

Yes, I remember 'Armistice Day'.
And I remember when the unit of exchange was nylons and Hersey Bars ! 'Grits' never worked in a 'Frisco Park . . . . but I do remember . . . . Laugh In's - "Little girl want a Walnetto?" |

Yes I was stationed at Davisville, MCB One. for three years I was there when they closed the Base, Everyone was worried about the local economy when Quonset Point closed, but I quess all survived. i was born raised in North Adams Mass. Used to drive back and forth to go skiing in Vermont etc. Great on getting your A out! and thanks for participating.!!

All Veterans made sacrifices for their country, some more than others, and have a pride for the USA that others cannot comprehend. It would do all of us citizens a lot of good to put in some service to our country.
I was in during the Vietnam Era but was never sent out of the USA. I saw friends and brothers come back from the hell that was Vietnam, some treated badly and some in a box. It made me feel guilty that I was never sent over there. Thank you, Veterans. Thank you Vietnam Veterans! Sergeant, U.S. Army Counter-Intelligence, White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico. 1963-1966 |
