I have the original top wood pieces for my 28pu excepting the side pieces over the doors. I want to make new top wood in red oak and finish naturally. I've seen this on several pu's and really think it gives a clean look although not quite original.
Is there anyone out there that has old top-side wood pieces that could be sent to me for a pattern or trace around them on heavy brown paper and put a few dimensions on the paper as to the notched ends and hole locations? I would be more than happy to pay the postage. Also, is there a second wood piece that attaches under the side pieces that the door top rests against? I can't seem to find any drawings or sketches of the cab wood. [email protected] Thanks Jack |

Jack,
Sorry I don't have the side pieces out of the truck (1929), but I too am looking for information on any missing side pieces that fit against the lower side of the side pieces. There is currently a gap between the top of my doors and the bottom of the side pieces. I have the drip rails ordered, but haven't received them yet so I don't know if they solve this problem. I'm not trying to hijack your thread - just saw a a problem we both need a solution to. Thanks, |

There is a second piece of wood that gets screwed to the bottom of the side rail. It holds the wind lace in and gives the top rubber bumper a surface to hit against. It is a simple piece 1/2" x 3/4".
