Default Hint - Installing the small rear brake springs

The access to the rear service brake small springs is not good and I was having difficulty putting these springs in place. Try this hint to install these springs very easily. I took a 1/8 in. cotter pin and opened it up and then cut it into 3/4 in. pieces. I then inserted five pins between the coils of the spring thereby lengthening the spring. I used masking tape to keep the pins in place as I added pins and mounted the spring to the brake shoe. My spring was very close to going over the backing plate retaining pin and required only a light tap with a screw driver and hammer to set the spring. Then with needle nose pliers you remove the cotter pin pieces and masking tape. Ed
