I may be traveling to pick up seven model A engines in my pickup. I need to know the approximate weight of a short blocks and a long block. I'm sure there are more experienced fellow out there that can give me this information.
Before I take off there will likely be guys from my club to set me straight but I would like to know before hand if I should tag my trailer along. ![]() |

I thought I read somewhere the engine weighed 450 lbs. Don't know if that includes the tranny but I think it is a long block.

Engine complete with clutch and transmission=473 lbs This is from" Ford Model "A" Passenger Car and "AA" Truck Engine and Chassis Manual". This is a great little book. Mine is about worn out. I hope they have it in big print now.
