Hello,
I recently came in to posession of an unfinished project 1959 Galaxie, and have been going through trying to inventory all the pieces, as the car is in pieces. So far, I think I have most everything, or have found a source for most parts except two. The first is the fuel filler cover/hinge assembly, but worst case that is something I can fabricate. The one I'm really stuck on is the lock assembly for the trunk. Attached is a picture with test fits of the trim, but I have nothing there. Just the latch, but nothing else. I've found one on Ebay, but it's NOS and over $400. I don't need an NOS one, and if the "zero" cover on it is missing, I could find a way to make one from the "zero" emblem I do have, so that's not even a big deal. Not being able to open the trunk from the outside is a bit bigger of an issue. Does anyone happen to know if there is any other source for the lock assembly? Or the other option, would be really good pictures and measurements so I can fabricate something until I get a real one? Or even a way to hack one together from other models would be fine. Thanks for your help |

See if the attached ILL shows large enough to cipher.
If not, maybe print out - This may interest you also - https://www.fordmuscleforums.com/thr...ost-1629630904

For the meantime, have a look at the “street rod” companies. They’ve got a whole variety of latches and releases, maybe someone close enough to work while you chase oem parts.
Might also an electric one that works now and adapts to the oem when you find it. One thing I miss on my old cars is the inside release. You can always hide a button somewhere. Speedway and Watson are likely candidates. Avoid any company associated with the Hoffman group. Lots of complaints on quality on the street rod sites. A Google will bring a bunch up. |

Thanks for the help, the diagram at least shows me what I'm supposed to have and don't. And I hadn't thought of completely replacing the entire latch assembly. That might be the easiest and probably something I can make look original-ish from the outside, at least to those that don't know better.

Give me the PN's shown on the ILL and I will give you the complete PN as some PARTS may be available NOS.
