Default Chrome roadster windshield frame

1931 deluxe roadster windshield frame either needs re-chromed or replaced with reproduction frame. My guess is the costs for replacement is less than the re-chrome restoration. Not sure what the repo looks like. Any experience with this?
Thanks

A very cost effective option would be to have the frame powder coated. It should be cheaper than chrome or the cost of a repro frame.

Stripping and buffing would tell you more. The pits look like they might be too deep to just plate. You could settle for plated pits,(which is what I would do) or you could opt to spend the money for the plater to copper plate, buff down, and do it again and again until the pits are filled. The $100.dollar bills add up fast doing that. Then again, you might get the frame stripped and buffed to find the pits are not bad at all.Pictures can be deceiving. If you haven't had any chrome work done lately,be prepared.Shock may not describe what you will find out.

I would clean and polish what is there first. It might look better than you thought.

repro frame I owned was flimsy-Ild fix that one up. powder coat sounds like a fair answer for a driver.

If doing a showcar- spend spend spend.

Open car frames were like hens teeth to find here in the 70's as they rust from the inside out, particularly the bottom curved tube. Most cars here being open. Flimbsyness can be fixed by siliconing in the glass.

I My 30
cabby came with a dipped poor windshield. It is very hard to get the chemical out of the folded frame. Of great luck, an aluminum frame with glass wandered it. Polishing it with medal cleaner came close to looking correct (and the rusty frame with glass wandered off for the same monies
