Default Rear Main Seal Retriner

I have a 312 I am trying to remove the crankshaft. The retainer bolts are recessed with a 12-point bolt. Does any know what size the head of the bolt is? I have some 12-point socket. That either the wrong size or to large to fit any one had this problem. Any help would be appreciated. Larry

3/8ths 12-point socket. I had to buy one just for that purpose. All of my 3/8ths sockets were 6-point. Check the seal retainer for warpage before installing a new seal.
