I need a starter for my 50. Vanpelt doesn't carry them any more. Open for all suggestions. Thanks

Have your original Ford starter overhauled by an auto electrical shop. Some new starters are made in China and quality is not so good. Or contact Steve Blanchard Here on The Barn, he does quality rebuilds on original starters and generators... Regards, Kevin.

I had my 49 starter rebuilt locally, $160. See if you can find a rebuilder locally.

Wasn't NAPA a good source for rebuilt starters just a few years ago? I got one from them a couple of years ago (I think it was less than $100). The one I got was bad out of the box, but they were easy to work with on an exchange. I have done a lot of business with them over the years and consider my experience a fluke.

Thanks for all the replies. Finding a repair shop is almost impossible these days. Shoebox central doesn't have anything. I did get a recommendation from them. It's called early V8 sales, 864-845-7878. Sending me a new one for about $175 plus shipping.

Michigan, once the heart of the auto industry has no auto electric repair shops?
