From what I am seeing, becoming a woodie owner is becoming less expensive as time passes.

Perhaps the maintenance is becoming more onerous as the current owners age.

What are we seeing here? They appear to be different makes, different years, different accessories, and the men are all in uniform.

Station wagons and fordor convertibles as well as phaetons have taken the worst hit of any body styles in recent years.
Yes, you can still find many examples of them advertised at "yesterdays' values", but you are highly unlikely to find one selling for those pie in the sky dreams.

I believe these models have suffered the worst as younger guys can't envision making a modern driver out of them. Nor can I.

Many convertible models are also losing value rapidly.

A few years ago I learned that if you want to have a woodie in these later years, you're just gonna have to make it yourself.

If we 'Barners had heard that said in the dark of night, we'd instantly know who said it!

Absolutely amazing Gary! My hat is off to you. It is so rare to see a wood and metal CRAFTSMAN of your caliber in the same body. You just amaze me.

Yep... My dad sold my '46 for $150 when I went into the military in 1953. Oh well, not the only car I would love to still have... Chap

Thanks Fordy, but really, under close scrutiny it is a bit 'homespun'. Not that I was going for a show car look, but it actually turned out just the way I wanted it to. A real driver. Trips to the dump, grandkids dripping ice cream, muddy dog feet scuffs will one day add to the story.

A few companies are still making these woodies. I suspect that the folks who maintain & repair them, could do a good job of doing so on older wooden land yachts too...for a hefty sum.

No scrutinizing Gary. I am thinking back 10 years or so when we were talking about you "stealing" your wife's tool to make a kingpin hone. I still have mine in the same fashion but made from a nice piece of 3/4" aluminum rod. Ya got me a smiling now LOL.

Heart medication has that effect too.
