I recently put in H10's. I did this because they are not resistor. I'm getting ready to replace the wires with low or no resistor too. Can't hurt.

This is the spark plug I run in all flatheads where the heads require a 7/16 reach plug. I've found these B6L NGKs to be superior to the Champion H-10's of modern manufacturer.

Is there a difference in the quality of "modern manufacture" plugs to the H-10 plugs of yesteryear Dale? |

I have a '47 but question could still be same. Its stock plug is/was Champion H-10. It came to me with Champion H-11's which are slightly "hotter" and might be used if one's engine is burning oil. Mine does not seen to. Regardless the H-11's burn well so I keep using them. There is an Autolite alternative but I did not find they are any advantage to me. I understand the Champion's are no longer made and hard to find but may rarely be found NOS on the internet. Some members here have other preferences which I have not tried. Regarding wiring, a previous owner converted my ignition from points to a Pantex electronic module and replaced the plug wires with silicon core wiring. I had much trouble with the very expensive electronic modules so I change back to stock ignition points.

When I got to ElMo, everybody was hang-dog saying the magneto/ignition had failed, no spare . . . blah, blah, blah. I asked them what plugs they had put in the engine --> Champions. I asked if we had any NGKs in the trailer? They said "Yes" . . . and I relayed my issue with fouling and that I suspected this was the reason it wouldn't start. Everybody thought I was nuts . . . so, they kept sulking in their chairs. I went into the trailer, gapped a set of NGKs and swapped them in and asked for help starting it (blown alcohol injected - takes two people) - it fired right up, and we were off and running. They couldn't believe it - but witnessed it with their own eyes. Since that time, we've never ran Champion plugs in the motor. Now, that is just my own experience - maybe others have had better experiences, but I run with what has worked for me. ![]() D |
