Default Ol' Ron

I heard from one of Ron’s people—family—and the news ain’t good. Sounds like the end is close, the last lap coming fast, and not much left in the tank. Figured you all ought to know.

Ron’s been a fixture around here, a permanent ghost in the machine. One of those rare souls who becomes part of the scenery without ever fading into it. And as far as I’m concerned, he’ll always be here—lurking in the margins, in the threads, in the grease-stained fingerprints we leave behind.

But goddamn… he’s gonna be missed. Fiercely.

Likewise ! We here have been blessed by many members such as Ron and I sometimes wonder how "newcomers" can be equally benefitted.

Sorry to hear about Ron. He's been a fixture on this site as long as I can remember. I remember my F.I.L. talking about when his father got bad, he said "I can't do what I want anymore". I understand more and more everyday...

Ron was one of those super nice guys, who just
jumped at the chance to help others...
He will surely be missed by all here at the Barn.

He is as much of the fabric of the BARN as anybody could be. Always willing to contribute anything he knows and doing so in a way that had class, zero expectations and no ego involved. Also, he was more than willing to contemplate other ways of accomplishing the task - completely open minded (which is rare). He has been as good of a member of this site as anybody could ever be.

If he is on his way out, Godspeed to you Ol' Ron - you will be forever a part of this place . . . and THANK YOU for all you've done for all of us. We will miss you - always!

I only knew him from his postings on this site, but always appreciated his knowledge and common sense. He even injected a little humor when needed. These type of posts always remind me of the old George Jones song " Who's Going To Fill Their Shoes".

Ryan, Thanks for sharing this very sad news. I ALWAYS read his posts. I had learned a lot from a guy that had "been there and done that".

Very sad to hear this news.

I first met Ron many years ago at the Amherst, NH Sunday morning flea market. Wonderful guy to talk with and VERY helpful in educating me on Flatheads. I bought a merc crank form him at his house. I took my very young Son with me, who is 45 now.
At his house he gave me a draft of his book and I provided a few comments to him.

One of the great ones!!

Glenn
