Default early AR light switch

Anyone had experience rebuilding/fixing one of these and stopping the horn rod from slipping on the switch. This is a total different animal than the later switches.

Yes. If your horn rod is rotating in the bronze bracket, you're either not tightening it enough or the bottom of your horn rod is messed up. I have both a three- digit and four-digit early cars.

This is the light switch shown in Victor Page's Model A Ford Construction, Operation, Repair in circuit on p.306-307 and a side view on p. 115. Distinctive in that it is mounted on a "bracket" rather than quarter-turning onto the bottom of the steering column.

Associated with the "Type H" headlights - at least until the early/adapted "Two-light" bulb style switch/enclosure was used.

Is there an established "cutoff date/serial number" for this early switch?

Judging Standards indicates the "knurled" switch body was in use against Type H headlight (On-Park only in a single bulb) and used up to February 1928. From Feb 28 to March 29, a "two dimple" bail type switch was used with Type H.

In Feb 29, the bail type two dimple switch was superseded by a non-dimple version, which gave Hi-Low-Park headlights (Twolight system) This was revised dimension-ally and a drain hole added in 1930.

My March '29 truck came with a mix-match of parts. The former owner had a 31 roadster and some parts replaced made their way into my truck. I.e. Original Type H lenses and reflectors and everything else "twolight."

I have contended that the truck line tended to be a "drop off" for superseded car parts. As in Type H system which by March had been pretty much replaced in the Passenger cars. My truck was assembled in the Somerville MA Assembly, probably from parts "floated" between Detroit and Somerville, MA.
