Engine oil used to be sold in bottles like that. The gas station attendant would fill the bottles from a 55 gallon barrel that the oil actually came in. The bottles would then be set out by the pumps so that the attendant could put oil in the cars as needed. I remember these and 12 cents per gallon gasoline.

I have a lubester that filled those bottles.You swing the curved pipe to the side,and set the bottle under the spigot.Perfect fit into the tin spout.I didn't use the glass bottles myself,I used those one and two quart galvanized pitchers.Exactly one turn of the crank is one quart.I used it for years when I bought oil in 15 gallon drums.When I went to a 55 gallon drum I just mounted the pump on the drum.
