No cars, Runnemede is next to Barrington, my town

I can't figure out what the heck is that tall, skinny thing is out by the street is with a globe and hose on it. Secondly, what is up on the roof with a wire going to it or under it?

Maybe a kerosene pump?

My guess is a stack top for the heating furnace.

I have an idea where it was but I can't be sure. There's an ESSO sign but the pumps still say Standard, Goes back to when they Broke up Rockefeller's company into the 7 sisters
