That has to be the short 101" wheelbase version. That's a great picture, but I bet the driver felt every bump in the road.

What a beauty! What is the little "door" behind the side window? 101" wheelbase? Shorter than a 32 pickup? Wow!

When I was 10 or so, a woman farmed the land next to our house near Fostoria Ohio with an IH bulldowzer. She towed it with a COE Ford stake truck of that era. I LOVED that truck and admired her as she only had 1 normal arm & hand. The other arm ended at the elbow with a small deformed hand. I can still hear that flathead V8 straining to pull the IH on it's trailer out of the field; but it did it.

Now I see it. The shadow from the bar makes it look like a little door. Duh

I have one of these in my side yard. Yes they do exist! Ran the last time I asked it to but needs a full restoration. It takes up less space than my F 350 dually.

The Army had a bunch of them built with MH 4wd units. They were used up around here for logging after the war.

The photo is a publicity shot for Ford. If you look carefully, notice the pole near the ground behind the truck which is holding the bottom edge of a large piece of white fabric. This was done to hid most of the background images and having a mostly white background made touch-up so much easier in the days before we all could do it electronically. I haven't looked but I bet this scene is replicated in some Ford booklet or showroom album.

Here are a couple of images from early 1935 production showing what they did to create some of the showroom album and advertising images. In one you can see, just to the right of the water tower, the wind blowing the sheet against the body of the fellow holding the sheet up with his hands held high.

This truck is identical to one I had, save for the fact that mine was a "41, so it had a jailbar grille. I like the earlier grille better.
