About 20 years ago I swapped an 8ba into a 6 cylinder '51 Tudor. I used the appropriate V8 engine mounts to water pumps and I don't remember doing anything with the engine mount brackets bolted to the front cross member.
Well I'm dropping in an 8ba into a '51 that was 6 cyl. again and well I'm doubting myself. I am about up against the firewall and it looks as I have to go back further to land on the mounts, (see pic). I'm stumped at the moment, calling it a night but I wanted to put this up on the Barn before hitting the hay. I'll be back at it in the am. Thanks guys.

I looked in the parts book and it doesn't show the frame mount for a V8 just for the 6. If you do away with the frame mount does the V8 mount line up with the holes?

OMG, that is the main answer to my problem, whether the holes (or dimples for) are there remains to be seen, but Thank You! Will report back.

When I did my V8 swap, I removed the 6 cylinder mounts and discovered the holes for the V8 water pump mounts were staring back at me. The engine dropped right in; no prob.

Great looking motor! Where did you get the crankshaft pulley? Also what distributor are you using, Charlie from NY? Thanks

The crank pulley came from H&H Flathead. The distributor came from Jim Linder (RIP) who was one of the distributor gurus here on the Barn. I imagine Charley NY is doing the same. When Jim built mine he was drawing from a large cache of new GM distributors.
