Default 9 in. rear axle

Hey guys! I'm working on a '56 Fairlane with a '57 rear end in it. There is no indication that the spring perches have been moved. So, could/is this a bolt-in swap? - FF

Depending on what year the rear is, it could be a bolt in. I have a 57 rear in my 54 Ford, and it was a bolt in. 57, 58 and possibly 59 had the spring perches the same distance apart as 54-56. After 59, the distance changed as far as I know.

Hey Paul! Like I said, it is a '57 rear in my '56, as evident by not having the 2 dimples on the back like the '58 & '59 do, or so I have read. Anyways, you've answered my question. Thanks! F F

Hey Bernie, just curious, are the spring perches close to 36" center to center ?

Lanny - the best I can determine it is around 42 in.

================================================

Bernie, 42" to 43" is the most common spring perch measurement for those
Fords, Most Mustangs of the 60's were the same as that too...
