Default Stainless spare tire trim repair

Just about got it licked. This 33/34 spare tire trim ring was mashed pretty good at the bottom w/coupling as well as several good dings. As you can see (a few before and after pic's), I still have a few spots left from where something very pointy made the dents as those very first sharp point impacts are always the hardest to get out. I will post the finished/polished end result IF anyone is SO interested once I get it completely smooth and sanded.

Thank's so much Zeke3, I think its turned more into therapy/challenge for me than the amount of time it takes to get them really straight and smooth.....the REAL challenge will be when it comes time to buff it!!!

Robert I made a buck in some hardwood that mimics the 35-36 ss ring to assist in getting dents out. But it certainly takes a lot of patience and skill to work these smooth again. Pity I don’t have enough patience or skill!!

Danny, I think I have more "implements" that I use from wooden dowels,to nails, to a railroad spike (I use both ends) to nylon blocks, files, punches...anything I can find and OR to modify to fit where I need it to fit!!!!! Like I say, Its quite the challenge....to get it perfect is where the "patience" comes in...Some days way more than others....those days I can spend hours working it!!! Some days, an hour or less and I am done

How did you fill the thru and through holes? Stainless weld?

Fortunately, there were NO holes that i had to fill....just dents and dings to remove.....BUT....IF something has holes, and is thick enough, I can TIG weld it.....OR I just found out about having thinner, smaller SS stuff Laser welded.

Hope all is well with you Lawson and great to hear from you!!!!
