Default Oval vs. Round Speedometer

I have an early 1930 Roadster with the oval speedometer. My instrument panel is very corroded and I may have to have it restored. I was able to find a very nice original Instrument Panel for the late 1930-31 Round Speedometer.

Can I change from the Oval to the Round Speedometer and change the speedometer cable?

I don't think it will fit. Something to do with the gas tank shape??

As others have stated, no they are not interchangeable. Mounting holes, speedos and speedo cables are different. Post a “Wanted” in the Swap Meet section of the Barn and I’m sure you can find a good one (repops vary in quality). I found one at a swap meet last year for (I think) $25. Had it replated and it’s gorgeous.

Thanks guys. I was afraid of that. I have a couple of oval reproduction instrument panels. I have one that I bought from a guy that was going to hot rod his car and it has the gauges, the lock and the complete dash light. I’ll probably use that.
