Currently trying to remove the steering column housing from a 1935 Ford coupe. I have been able to move it approximately one inch and no further. Screw holding the locking collar has been removed. Lots of penetrating applied. I would appreciate any advice on how to get the housing off.

Is there a horn rod that extends to the bottom of the tube?

Hello, last month I disassembled a couple 35 steering column assemblies. On one of them I encountered a second upper bearing that was just above the lock collar. When I got the mast jacket up about an inch it stopped. I still had the column drop secured to the mast jacket and just used a dead blow hammer to lightly drive the mast jacket up. As it slid up the bearing tightened on the unworn and somewhat rusty steering shaft. I used a long broom handle to drive the bearing out of the mast jacket. I'm not sure if it was original or not.

Have you turned the ignition key to on so that the steering lock pin is out of the inner shaft? I see the ignition/ steering drop bracket is still on, you definitely need to remove the steering lock out of the shaft

Solved the problem. Just took brute force to get the outer housing moving. Tied the sector down and used the tube like a slide hammer and with force it came off. Thanks to those that chimed in with suggestions.
